Dia De Los Muertos Celebration

November 1, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Join Street Level Health Project on November 1, 2016 for An Evening of Native Healing. In it’s second year, our Dia De Los Muertos celebration leverages a culturally resonant time of year to address the root causes of chemical dependency; primarily self-esteem, stress and depression among isolated workers.

Through an engaging evening of storytelling, cultural performance, and altar making; Street Level Health incorporates artistic expression to our Whole Person Care model as a form of narrative therapy and community healing. Narrative therapy seeks to be a respectful, non-judgmental approach to counselling and community work, which centers people as the experts in their own lives. Our event gathers disconnected male immigrants to celebrate life and acknowledge loss in ways that are culturally familiar. The four hour event prioritizes a popular education approach to raise mental health awareness and connect low-wage workers experiencing trauma to services.
